Horse And Wagon
Traveling in a wagon drawn by a horse or team isn't a bad way to go, albeit slow.
Dad told me that he used a horse/team and wagon a lot as a child and as a young man. One big advantage over a car, even equipped with a GPS unit, is that the horse knows where home is. Dad said that if you got tired, or had too much to drink at the neighbor's barn dance, you could just sack out in the wagon and the horses would get you home.

My dad did the same thing. [:D] If I weren't married I wouldn't need 75% of the junk I'm paying for. Give me wood heat, kerosene lamps and a hand pump in the kitchen and I would be a happy man. [^]0 -
I don't think you can get a DUI on a horse either...

no surprise there. Just what I would expect from a state where you can't deer hunt with a rifle. (I grew up there by the way)[V]0 -
By the way. If you are asleep in the back of the wagon how could you be charged with D.U.I.? [:D] The horse would be the designated driver. 0 -
I had a Great Uncle that was quite a "lady's man" in the 1920's, he used to tell stories about "entertaining" his lady in a buggy. Same things going on now, just a different bunch doing it[;)][:)][^] 0 -

Oh yes you can..I know a guy that did.
He rode his horse into the bar, where it quickly slipped on the tile floor.(horse had steel shoes)When he got the horse outside again, and began going home,He was CHARGED with DUI. I don't know if it stuck, in court.0 -
Before my father bought a tractor, we used a mule and wagon. Hauled plows, planters to the corn field, picked corn when it was ready, hauled firewood and other stuff. Also had a ground slide made from steel pipe. Had many good afternoons hooking the mule to it and riding through the pasture. That mule hated to see me coming.[:D] 0
