Boy Henry, you're tempting me. Dad and I will be staying at the Lake(Racoon) this weekend, Thurs/Friday/Sat/Sunday. It'd be a 30-45min drive to the track. But it's a fishing trip, we'd be missing some fishing time.

    Thanks anyways, nice giveaway.

Absolutely, Raccoon is a great lake for skiing or tubing.

We have a 19' Rinker Ski-boat that we leave at the lake, we tube and ski all the time.

Waverunners, pontoons, cabin cruisers, you name it. It's a beautiful lake.

If you're heading down this weekend, let me know. I leave Thursday afternoon.

    Yes it does.

Racoon is about 2100+ acres. For light watercraft, you can pretty much go anywhere. It's been dry lately, so the larger/heaver boats need to keep to the channels. That waverunner could run all over the place and not worry about anything. Its a beautiful lake with clear water.

Where do you live BTW? I'm in Lafayette.

im from decatur area, work in warsaw, live in columbia city (apt) and go to school in fort wayne (IPFW)

is there a public ramp or marina so we can dunk in at? is there a public dock anywhere?

  • Cubslover
There are a lot of ramps on that lake. Some are private, but there are a few public ramps. There may be a $5 fee to get into the park to drop the boat. If you turn off of 231S onto 36. Follow 36 until you cross the lake. On the left hand side is the park. I believe there are slips back there. We have a private ramp for the neighborhood.

    Cecil M. Harden Lake (Racoon)
Nine miles east of Rockville on US 36, (765) 344-1412

There are a few other great lakes around that area for you as well.

    Glenn Flint Lake
Four miles southwest of intersection US 231 and US 36
    -371 acres

    Waveland Lake
Two miles west of Waveland on SR 47, (765) 435-2073
    -358 acres

I forgot to mention, there is a park on the lake with a beach and everything.

Waveland has a public dock, it's only 350acres, but it's long, and there aren't that many boats on the lake.

Sorry Henry. We kinda screwed up your thread.[V]

HAHA, yeah. I'll talk to dad and we can take a trip down and take the boat out. Drink some beer back at the house and grill/fry the catch of the day.

Email me a reminder, when are you leaving?

It's a 1hr 15min drive. The drive is actually pretty fast. It's about 20-25min from Crawfordsville. Hey, speaking of Henry.

    Thanks for the generosity anyways!

    Henry,

I know you pulled the prize. But I just wanted to thank you for offering it up in the first place. I couldn't have gone this year either due to work constraints and being so far away and all.

It has always been a dream of mine to see the Indy 500. Hell, just to stand at an empty Brickyard would be great! What a place...

Thanks for offering anyway. Your generousity is without reproach. If I can ever do anything for you in Texas, let me know and any that torment you will stand at question.

Henry, I appreciate the offer and would normally have loved to have taken you up on it, but I've got a Michigan wedding and a college graduation to attend this weekend, so I'm completely booked now.

I can assure you that I would much rather be at the Brickyard than at either of the other two events, but duty calls and cannot be avoided in these instances.

It was a timely and generous offer, but I can't convince the powers that be that I'm not needed to help with the wedding.

I don't see why they need my help with the wedding; they didn't invite me to the honeymoon or think they needed help with that one. There seems to be a limited interest in my being around for this event.
