Buyer: Whatcha selling?

Me: Colt Sporter HBAR Model 6601 late model Preban.

Buyer: How much you asking?

Me: $1400.

Buyer: (Looks gun over) Would you take $1200?

Me: Sure.

Buyer: Let me think about it.

About 1 minute later...

Stranger: Did he buy your gun?

Me: I still have it.

Stranger: Yeah. He just likes to talk, you can give him the best price in the show and he will walk away from it. Most dealers won't even talk to him.

Me: Figures.


LET ME THINK ABOUT IT? Is he kidding? He made the offer, I accepted and he deflected. I was just a touch POed. Maybe coming down $200 off the bat scared him? I had the gun he looked it over. He said he was impressed and liked the gun.

About the gun. Colt Sporter HBAR, one of the last Pre-Ban guns. Blue label 20" 5.56 fixed stock, w/removable flash suppressor but no Bayonet lug. Came factory 2 10 rnd mags (traded for 2 30 rnd) Have original box, bag, cleaning kit with both brushes, manual and gun with aprx 300 rounds fired. I am the original purchaser (07/94) and safe stored.

    I feel bad.. real bad.. Headache, earache, sore throat, coughing, run down... Should I go to the local gun show today? Sniffning, sneezing... think I could get close to the tables to look in the crowded place? Lets see I have taken two excedrin , cough syrup, vitamin, anti anti something decongestant[:D][:D] And to top it off it is raining small cats and mice..

    Only cats and mice.....get going!!!! Plus...if you don't take any medicine and walk around with a tissue box under your arm....you will have a CLEARED PATH to the tables of your choice.

    Yep, right now I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to drive the 20 miles to the Pasadena Show today, Free Parking at that show! but it's pretty small compared to the Houston Show's, And my "spending Money" is in short supply. Last time I went to this show I picked up a used Mossberg 500 for $100 and normally I only find used Mavericks for that price.

    When I feel like s#*& and want to go to a gun show, I take 2 excedrin, 3 oz of cough syrup, 2 decongestant pills and some of that ache - sneeze - coughing so you cant sleep medicine, put it all in a blender with a glass of instant breakfast and 10 ounces of Hoppes #9.

    It clears things up right away.
