I got rid of my daughter to her friends house for the night!

So tomarrow very early in the morning I will be takeing my 7yo son out for his first hunting trip!

He will not actually be hunting but he will get to see first hand what a hunting trip is like.

I only hope he can be still and quiet for long periods of time!

But he is definatly excited about his first trip out![:D]

    I think I may take the blind with us just for that reason![;)]

    I normally just go sit and lean up against a tree!

    Just remember your first hunt and keep it in prospective.
    I had to do that with my buddys son when I took him out.

    SOunds like it will be a good day! But just don't push him. When he gets where he can't sit still, go home. That might be 30 minutes or maybe even an hour if you're lucky. But when he gets tired and shifty, stop and leave right then.

    And part of it is pretty heavy over growth over the trail and difficult when you are not used to the path.

    I think he will do allright for a while out there.

    Biggest thing is it will be cold in the morning (upper 30's). I did get out some chemical warmers that I had so he can put them in his pockets to help with this.

    Good luck GRD.

    My dad leaned me up against a tree, I had a gun, but it wasn't loaded I dont believe... He walked maybe 20 ft away, sat by a tree, we sat there for a good hour or two, we looked, saw one, heard some stuff, I love the woods though...


    We ended up sitting by each other by my tree, on our way out we seen one up the gravel road, pulled over and got ourselves a doe...


    Take some candy too.

    Try to take tootsie rolls and that kind of stuff, it doesnt crinkle etc.

    I did plan on letting him take his Crickett along so he feels a little more like he is really hunting. So a couple squirells might be in order too![;)]

    Good man GRD.[:)] You are doing what more parents should do; spend time with the kids. I took my son deer hunting when he was only 5 or 6. He lives to go hunting ever since.[:)] I would have liked my dad to do that, but it seemed he was always working (not his fault, I guess he never even thought of it).[:)]

    Well we are back!

    My son has alot of work to do in the being still and quiet department!

    He just cannot do it for more than a couple minutes.

    We will work on it though![;)]

    Awesome, be safe.

    I fell through the Ice on my first hunting trip, so the only shooting I got to do was target practice back at camp.



    oh wait, I finally read your last response, oh well, maybe he would enjoy trapping a little more.
