I've heard many people say immigration is a federal law enforcement problem so city county and state officers can't do anything about it.

marijuana is a federal crime, so why do city county and state officers arrest so many offenders?

    What model and caliber do you guys/gals carry as your service weapons? I'm just curious because in the area that I live in, I have seen officers from the same departments carrying different weapons; some carry glocks[xx(], some carry Smith and Wesson, and I've also seen Beretta's. It's like the departments don't have a standard issue weapon for the whole department. I was just wondering about what ya carry.

    I'm all for gun control; I use both hands.

    Because there are state laws making marijuana illegal. There are no state laws regarding illegal immigration.

    Unless as some states have done in specifically checking the immigration status of someone. However more communities have opted to make their "area" a "safe haven" and try to keep ICE from doing raids.

    Local cops can enforce federal law. I used to arrest illegals by the car load years ago working the graveyard shift.

    The immigration bus would come by our jail in the morning and take them off our hands.

    So, it's a catch and release program.

    You can lock them up for example on a DUI hit and Run charge and the Magistrate sets Bail and their right back out there doing the same things. Thats one reason our car insurance has gotten higher and has lower coverage, very few of these imigrants have the mandantory car insurance required by law. Calling INS is a waste of time, they dont want to fool with them unless they are wanted for a major crime somewhere else.
