Prayers for an Officers Family
We lost one of our police officers early this morning in Abilene. Jeff McCoy had been on the department almost 18 years and was on patrol at abround 0340 on the southside when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crossed into his lane and struck his patrol vehicle in the drivers door and spun it into a utility pole. It is believed that McCoy died instantly. The driver of the other vehicle is in serious condition and investigation continues as to whether drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor. Jeff leaves behind a wife and a 2 year old daughter.
It has been almost 7 years since we lost an officer here. Never easy for those of us in the Police/Fire/EMS arena to deal with.
