If you are captured why would you willingly give up your uniform? It's been a while since I've had to sit through a class on the rules of land warefare, but I seem to remember that if captured you are to give no information, and stay in uniform. All I can say is that the Iranians were wise not to mess with american marines. Somehow I don't see the corps, A) backing down from a fight cooperating with an enemy. No I expect that if they had tangled with the USMC we'd be bombing the crap out of Iran right now.0 -

It would be interesting, in a hypothetical and purely academic sort of way, to see how a fight between the USMC and IRGC would turn out.
My prediction: Marines win by a large margin, but Revolutionary Guard score points for fashion (but only if they wore Ahmandinehad leisure suits... otherwise all bets are off[:D]).0 -

I don't think it would get to bombing.
A US destroyer would let "R2-D2" loose on the little Iranian boats, a few 20mm shell later, USN recovers the wreckage in IRAQI waters and the Iranians disavow any knowledge of the attempted kidnapping [:p]0 -
What Iran needs to keep in mind is that there are crap load of US troops already on the ground in their region, along with an even greater number of pissed off Iraqis. What better way to unite Iraq than a war against their common enemy the Persians? I know there are many Iraqis of the same muslem denomination as the Persians, BUT my entire time in Iraq I did not find a single person that didn't HATE the Iranians with a passion!
