bounced paychecks
Any here ever had insufficient checks? I've had 4 since October and am starting to really stew over it. The more i think of it the more bad things i think of doing to stick it to the man.

I had a boss that did that once. After that, I took the checks directly to his bank and exchanged them for cash. Took the time off from work to do it. Found a new job shortly after.

...confront him and tell him you do the work to be paid, not for your health. You do your work proper and on time, so why cant YOU pay me on time??
Once and Id have confronted him, twice I'd have confronted him and explained how I was calling the labor board...and have "had" him terminate me.
If you confront him and he fires you, remind him that by law he has NO longer than 72 hours max to have your paycheck in your hand...he does not have until the next pay period, grin and walk out...[;)]
...Thats the law here, and I believe it may be Federal, dont remember for sure.
The first few years when I had my co and I fired a hundred or so people...I knew the law...check with your Labor Board where you live...or just put up with it...[;)]

He may be having a tough time making ends meet. Ask him how the business is doing. If you call the bank on payday they will tell you if the checks are any good.

Here, if you get a check back with NSF on it, you can take them to court for 3 times the amount of the check.
Save the bad checks, when you get a new job........

Sounds like the overcharging of Cops and the HVAC businees isn't paying out so well right now, is it.
Remember you rant a couple of weeks ago about the Rookie cop and so on ?0 -
You could go broke before you could collect a bad check on him, and if he files bankruptcy never see a dime!
Good CH&A men can always find a job -- if I were you I'd get my job hunting shoes on and find another employer.
He may be a good guy and having hard times, but if you're not careful you could have some pretty hard times as well. Look out for #1!0 -

It's a Federal offense to "bounce" a paycheck. Payroll MUST be made unless the employer wants to find his arse sitting in jail or in court. If you choose to slough it off, you're letting your boss dance on the slippery slope. BTW and FWIW, the IRS does not look favorably upon employers who default on payroll because of the FICA, Medicare and payroll taxes due to Uncle Sam. There are no do-overs on missing payroll.0 -
BEWARE - Obviously hard times for the owner. What this usually means is that the FICA & SS deductions, while being notated on your pay-stub, are probably NOT being paid. If so, at tax time next year the K.G.B. (IRS) will come after you for your half and try to track him down for the half the company should have paid.
