LEOs - need radar info

Any of y'all LEOs on the board have any experience with a radar unit - Decatur Genesis II ?? Got a link to any kind of manual, etc? Also, if you've used one, do they automatically clear the recorded speed after some time, or if a speed was recorded does it require a user step (push button, etc) to clear the recorded speed?

    Yup, but not me. Heck, I've only been pulled over twice, once for speeding on my bicycle when I was 14 (university campus 15mph limit) and once for walking on I-75 (car broke down, I was headed for an exit).

    A poster on another forum dealing with cars got pulled over in Canada, and was quoted an insane speed - guy was speeding, but no where near what the officer wrote on the ticket. Officer goes to show him radar display, no numbers, just dashes, and says "it clears automatically after a few minutes".

    Anyway, he's trying to confirm whether or not the speed would reset automatically or what, and the device manufacturer will not give him any info, copy of the manual, etc. "Limited to law enforcement only". So short of the canadian equivalent (this happened in .ca) of the FOIA request, I figured I'd post over here and find out if possible...

    You know, when I was 15 I used to say that I had a girlfriend in Canada... I guess it is okay to have a "friend" that got a speeding ticket in Canada, too. [;)]

    Just ask the law enforcement agency. The manuals are public record and in the USA if you filed a motion for discovery, you would get a copy of the radar unit manual and the test record (where when you start up the unit, you put a tuning fork in front of the unit and it will tell the speed of the tuning fork).

    No offense to you, but this guy's a dumbazz.

    He's out fishing internet boards for info to assist him in contesting a speeding ticket instead of hiring an attorney who already knows all the tricks. He's setting himself up for a humping.

    Mine plugs into my cruiser PC and can log data that can be printed along with when it was calibrated, what I had my target speed set on and the actual speed of the offender was. Most good Officers have more to do and dont want to go to Court over a 6 MPH speeding summons. Its alot easeir and safer for me to go after those who truly are speeding not just drifting over the speed limit. I also want to be sure if the party who recieved the Summons challenges it in Court and I have to appear, I want the Judge to certainly rule in my favour. Its hard these days to beat a speeding ticket.
