Police officer fired after suing family of near drowning victim
CASSELBERRY, Fla. (AP) -- Casselberry authorities say a police sergeant has been fired for suing a family after she slipped and fell while trying to rescue a 1-year-old boy from drowning.
Casselberry Police Chief John Pavlis fired Sergeant Andrea Eichhorn on Tuesday.
Eichhorn has dropped her negligence lawsuit. It claimed there was water on the floor at Joey Cosmillo's home when police arrived. Eichhorn claimed she broke her knee and missed two months of work after she slid on the wet floor.
The boy suffered brain damage and can no longer walk, talk or swallow. He lives in a nursing home and eats and breathes through tubes.
Eichhorn can appeal her firing. Pavlis said the lawsuit brought public ridicule to the agency and damaged its reputation.

I missed this last go around.
WTH was she thinking? Workman's Comp surely would have covered her time off work, and she could have gotten a settlement from the city. It's distguisting how this nation has come to beleive that we should sue everyone else so often for such BS.0 -
Granted Workmans Comp should have handled it, and also granted that suing the family was morally worng, however the Department that fired her for excersizing her rights has opened themselves up for a heck of a lawsuit. Expect to hear of that soon. 0 -

Quite true. This nitwit woman is obviously unfit to be a police officer, Paramedic, or any public safety job. Gee, what a revelation, there is risk involved when you have a public safety job.
Anyway, when this moron was hurt, two Paramedics were working on the poor kid, she was just a bystander with a badge at that point.0
