Hunting leased land?

I have been watching VS alot lately, great channel for hunting game from doves to Bear (151 Dish). They also show some awesome Tough man contest as well. There was 2 guys talking about people leasing land for hunting purposes. One guy voiced his opinion against it the other guy was for it. Its supposed to come back on later for the results of the poll taken, and to further let these guys debate their opinions. What do you think does leasing land cause the Deer population to be to high and have poor quality and inbread deer? Or do you think it benefits to have leased hunting land. One thing I do agree with the guy against it said, "Used to be you knock on the land owners door and ask him if you can hunt and he would write out your slip for permission to hunt. Being a land owner and letting a few I know well hunt hasnt hurt the herd on my property Ive got a permit to take 6 does up until 10:00 PM at night except Sundays. There are way to many deer there. Another issue the guy against hunting leased said is no one owns the wildlife, which is true until I lay him down with my 30-06 or 7MM Mag.

    Though perhaps no one "owns" wildlife, I suspect that you feed lots of wild game. And I doubt that your taxes have decreased either.

    So... Leasing land to hunters? Why should it not be a good idea? They still have to abide by local game rules, you'll know who they are, and I suspect you'll have a contract that states their obligations and yours.

    What I don't like is the leasing agent type of business where one person leases your land, then turns around and sub-leases at a profit. These boys probably aren't too concerned about your welfare, nor are they concerned who purchases lease rights from them. Not a good situation.

    Be careful. Know with whom you're dealing. It's no sin to manage your property in such a way as to allow a bit of payback once in awhile.

    I would make a stipulation that the land could not be leased to anyone but the original person who leased it. Of course I would not lease the land to start with. After some thought I agree as humans we dont own the wildlife. Its the hunters who have thrown down their trash and torn down fences etc, thats why I only let my friends hunt.
