I am new to the AK-47 market not ever owning one but have been looking into getting one. Can someone tell me what to look for and the best made one. I found this one seems like a good deal but i don't know

I am planning to purchase an AK47 and am wondering if there is a certain one that stands out from the others or are there any to stay away from. With all the clones its hard to sort them all out.

Ok I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these things just to see what y'alls talking about. Somebody please enlighten me as to what is a good deal and what makes the difference from accepting HI CAP mags. I have been looking thru the auctions on here and I see a big difference in price with them and some are advertised as accepting HI CAPS, whats the diff?

That one you linked to won't take hi-cap mags if I'm not mistaken. I laugh at people who say you need to spend alot on a ak's. I bought a Romanian WASR-10 and a Romanian WASR-2 in 5.45x39 I got them for 300 each. Just look at the front site to see if it is canted, that is the biggest problem I've heard about these ones.

I would not get that one.
    1. It's a low cap with crappy hard to find mags.
    2. It's in 223 which is more expensive than 7.62x39 right now.

I would look for either a Vector or a dealer that has multiple Wasr10's on hand to handle-- gun shop or gun show. Wasr's are known to have crooked front sights & gas blocks (usually from putting the barrel on crooked). Mag wobble is another issue to look out for.

If you can hand pick you can look out for those issues and pick a good one.

Here's a good website for info on Wasr's / Romanian AK's and is required reading for all ak owners.

Right now the best deal out there in AK's is the AK74 in 5.45x39. Ammo is super cheap right now. Best deal on these is an older SAR3 (not wasr3) if you can find one.

get a SAR-1 if you can find one. Should be able to get it for under $400.

I have a VEPR K Ak and my Romanian SAR-1 will shoot and function just as well. I really like mine and would like to find another reasonably priced.
