the saw movies
Has anybody watched any of these? The review in the paper for the fourth one said it's a non-stop, incredibly graphic sequence of torture scences. I just don't understand why anybody would want to watch such a thing.

The first one was the best although I haven't seen 4 yet. Yea its messed up, but got you thinking on the first one. Most movies don't.
Yea, the appeal factor,,you guys were probably yipping and yapping when you watched your first "war" movie as hundereds of "enemy" were being hosed by bombs and bullets,,,no different, imo..nambu0 -

review in the paper said it's a flop (but the first 3 were great).
I saw #2 and thought it was lame! I wouldn't bother seeing any of them.0 -
I have watched the first three and will most likely watch 4 when it comes out to rent. I doubt it will be as good not that the old man is gone.

Thats it right there. I have seen all three 3. 1 was quite possible the most F-up movie I have ever seen. 2 was ok, not as good as 1. 3 was f-up also and left it open for a fourth. 3 was good. The only reason I watch them now is because of the first one. I just couldn't imagine anyone making more of a F-up movie.
The thing about all the movies is that if you haven't seen #1 you might as well not watch any of them.0 -

I found them to be no more graphic or repulsive than SE7EN.
A bit more gory than one of the newer Twilight Zone episodes.
Now Hostel, that's crap. Pointless and stupid as most any other "horror" movie these days.

SAW was a movie you had to watch until the end to get the full impact.0 -

If like me, you have never heard of the "Saw" movies, I have googled up the synopsis of "Saw 1."
A sadistic serial killer known as 'Jigsaw' by the police is kidnapping people to teach them the value of life by making them choose between losing a part of their body and/or hurting someone else to survive. One of his victims is a young man named Adam (Leigh Whannell) who awakens in a bathtub to find that he is chained by the leg to a pipe in the basement of a crumbling building. Adam sees another person chained on the other side of the room; his name is Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes). They both discover a dead man, who committed suicide, laying between them in a pool of blood with a gun in one hand and a tape recorder in the other. Dr. Gordon finds a tape in his pocket with orders to kill Adam within eight hours or both men will be killed, and Dr. Gordon's family will also be killed. A police detective named Tapp (Danny Glover) is on the trail of Jigsaw, and he is trying to capture this serial killer before he plays his murderous game again. As time goes by, both men try to figure a way out without someone dying. Jigsaw has left two dull metal hacksaws for his victims to use, which can't cut through their steel chains, but they can cut through flesh and bone. Douglas Young (the-movie-guy)0
