    After lighting our gas grill, I left one of those long nose lighters that are used to light candles and grills on our patio.

    The next day, I was walking past the patio door and the thing exploded! It blew plastic fragments against the glass (but didn't break it).

    I know first hand what can happen when a lighter sits in the sun and gets too hot! BOOM!

    Folks might want to keep the bottles of ketchup off the dashboard too![;)]

    I recall reading, long time ago, dropping a lighter down the defroster vent was one of the Wise Guys tricks for eliminating someone during the winter

    Mythbusters put 500 in a car and then turned on a heating element over them. Nice little blast of flying glass.

    ...I woke up one morning a while back, to find the fridge door wide open. I knew I hadn't been drinking THAT much. Then I saw the culprit. Blew the door wide open.

    We were always reminded not to be welding with a Bic lighter in your pocket because it was like a stick of dynamite going off if a welding spark penetrated it.[:(!][V][xx(][:(]

    I have heard of a welding spark igniting a Bic lighter in a guy's shirt pocket.
    Not good for the health.
