    In 1983, Sadler moved to Central America to train and supply the Nicaraguan Contras, and later settled in Guatemala City, where he sold weapons and transportation to the military. In 1988, while returning to his mountain ranch house in a taxicab, Sadler was shot through the head in a mysterious robbery or assassination attempt (his son Thor believed drug runners were after his cache of guns). Although he survived, Sadler suffered severe brain damage. He was flown back to Nashville by Soldier of Fortune magazine editor Bob Brown, and though he eventually recovered consciousness and speech, he remained in a hospital bed for the rest of his life. Sadler died of heart failure on November 5, 1989." -Allmusic.com

    I can recall an old newspaper account of a shootout Sadler was involved in. It happened at night in a parking lot, might have been outside a bar.
    From some distance away, Sadler shot his opponent in the head and dropped him, dead. Sadler was using a little semi automatic pistol, as I recall.
    The sheriff said it was the most incredible shot he had ever heard of.
    I can't remember if Sadler was charged, if so, he must not have done too much jail time.

    Quite possibly the worst song of the 60's, save "Red Rubber Ball" by The Cyrcle. I was in Vietnam when this turd played on AFRS a hundred times a day. I still want to kick Airborne ass whenever I hear it.

Sadly, it had meaning for me back when it first came out.[:(] The song, plus all of the turtle and snake killing we did that summer, got me through the breakup. Now, out of shame, I guess I'll have to go smash that LP.
