About 10 yeras ago I was in a small town in Alberta.

I asked the owner of a bar what was big news there.

He thought for a while and said, "Well, in 1912 the
plumber went mad and strangled his wife."

We had been visiting a friend there and noticed there
weren't any locks on the doors - keys were always in
    the ignitions.

I guess those days are long gone here, eh?

    Not here.

    No doors locked, ever.

    Keys in all the rigs.

But, we have to put up with ugly(non-GB related) women, lots of feet of rain and a commie government.

Not necessarily gone. Just compare the racial/ethnic makeup of Alberta to the racial/ethnic makeup of Texas.
