Reparation----Cherokee style
Let's see Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the ACLU, lawyers and the court system try to do anything about this:
Cherokee vote against including descendants of black slaves
Members of the Cherokee tribe, the second largest American Indian tribe, have voted against descendants of black slaves being counted as full members of the Cherokee nation.
The vote overturns a previous ruling that granted the same medical, housing, and educational benefits of Cherokees to several thousand such descendants
The election aimed to establish who was Cherokee - at issue was a group barely known outside their territory in Oklahoma called 'the freed men'.
These include descendants of black slaves owned by Cherokees, free black people who are married to Cherokees and the children of mixed race families.
Now over three-quarters of Cherokee nation members have voted to limit membership to blood descendants.
Opponents of the vote argued it was motivated by racism, but a senior tribal leader said only Cherokee people had the right to determine who should be citizens of their nation.

It will be interesting to see what these nutjobs,(Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson), you mention think about slave reparations against people like Obama, who are half black, and to those who are all black once the black slave owning families are known.
SUBJECT OF VOTE is the same as SUBJECT of ARTICLE:
"Oklahoma City- Cherokee Nation members voted Saturday to revoke the tribal citizenship of an estimated 2,800 descendants of the people the Cherokee once owned as slaves.
Specificially, the target of this vote is:
Officially, Saturday's election asked voters whether to amend the Cherokee Nation constitution. Overriding the 1866 treaty, it would limit citizenship to those who can trace their heritage to the Dawes' "Cherokee by blood" rolls from 1906.
The Dawes Roll represents an exhaustive study regarding blood relations. Lots of families who did have Indian heritage were rejected due to lack of proof. Most people who were rejected from receiving these benefits were white people with Indain blood. A great many eligible people, including full blood Indians, did not even apply for citizenship into the Indian Nation due to a mistrust of the federal government, while others did not want to make the required move to what is now Oklahoma.0 -
Indians had black slaves??? I thought that activity was EXCLUSIVE to the white population! [B)] 0 -
so let get this straight...indians scream rights and dont like being exploited by the white man, yet they dont mind exploiting themselves?
maybe someone ought to send this pic to the liberals saying 'what gives??????'

after the end of the civil war the US government made the tribe take their freed slaves into the tribal rolls as a part of the treaty ending hostilities. The tribe had split during the war 1/2 union 1/2 confederacy. The government made no difference in the 2 halves slamming both the rebels and the pro northern sides 0 -
Up in north Georgia there is a historic house called the Joe Vann house.
It was owned by a Cherokee chief, himself of mixed Cherokee/Scottish blood. He had a big plantation there, had thousands of acres. He owned 92 black slaves.
He was told to hit the Trail of Tears with all the other Indians. His land was divided among whites.
They didn't say what happened to all of Joe Vann's slaves, I guess their descendents are out in Oklahoma right now, discovering that suddenly the Cherokee don't want anything to do with them.0
