Great book on the Vietnam War

Just finished reading "Flying Through Midnight" by John Halliday. Unbelievable story. Flew C-123's in Laos in 1970. At the time President Nixon was telling the world, "We have no ground troops or air assets based in Laos." Halliday tells of having to be "sterilzed" before each flight so the government could deny that the personal were American if they were shot down. Really good story. The most amazing thing is, that after finishing the book, I went to the author's website and sent him an e-mail telling him how much I enjoyed the book. He very quickly replied back. We have written several times over the past week and he is a very nice man with a great story that needs to be shared. If you see a copy, pick it up. I got mine at the local Wally World, so they are easy to find. My copy has been loaned out. When it comes back, I will probably give it away on here. But buy it if you can It is a wonderful read if you are interested in the Vietnam War.

  If you can find it, read "A Day In the Life". Big book but a very good read on the goings on of Vietnam. Written from a historical perspective and not a political one.

  Yes, those pilots spent a lot of time of the ground searching out NVA/VC.

  If you want a good book about chopper pilots, read "Chicken Hawk."
