    They want to decrease the senior discoutfrom 60% to 20%. This will make the senior deer licence jump from $5.20 to $24 . They know where they can stick their increase idea.

    Well..since Indiana has raised theirs several times I am sure that Michigan will do the same. At a local trout association meeting here in Indiana I was told by a member who is very active with hatcheries that the Michigan fishing licenses will definatly increase. Cost of living.......

    That is why when Indiana started raising theirs I got a lifetime hunting and fishing license. Best $ 750 I ever spent. Only license I have to buy is a Federal Migratory Stamp.

    That lifetime license might be a good idea for my boys, if they stay in state, since they might use it long enough for the increases to exceed the present value cost of the license, but not likely for me. The annual interest cost on the $750 purchase price is $60 if you only allow for an 8% return on your money. If the return is higher, then the annual value of the money tied up in the license increases proportionately.

    I don't spend that much each year for hunting and fishing licenses, so it's doubtful if I could ever get the money back before I'm too old to do much of either. It wouldn't make much difference if the prices increase in the meantime, unless it's by a significant amount, since the excess yearly cost for now has to be added to the $750 in order to arrive at the total investment in the life license.

    I'll buy the boys one if they stay here post college, but it's just not worth it otherwise.[:)]

    A work group authorized by the Michigan Natural Resources Commission and the Michigan DNR is calling on the state to:
    * Double the price of a waterfowl license.
    * Raise the price of a resident deer-hunting license by either 100 or 150 percent.
    * Increase the cost of a senior turkey hunting license by 400 percent.
    * More than triple the price of a bear-hunting licence.
    * Raise the price of a junior small-game license from $1.00 to $10.00 .

    All this without any cutbacks in programs or employees.

    With all the extra cash coming in why cut back on anything. They should be able to hire more people now. [;)] [:p] [}:)] [:0]

    I think a small increase every few years is fair. This is to much to fast. [V]

    Glad I live just south of them.
