Dish-tv or Direct-tv
We have just signed up for EmBarq high speed and the guy on the phone helped us tweek our home phone so that it would be cheaper and he also told us that they offer Dish-tv at 35.00 a month for 4 tv's with 100 chanels. We have Direct-Tv now and it is giving us some problems and we only have one remote for two boxes and they won't give us a second one so I was thinking that we might switch to Dish-Tv and have a whole new set up if everything works out. The price is about the same but I want to know if anybody has had any problems with Dish-Tv.

They are virtually the same,......except for some proprietary "sports packages". 0 -
i have had both at the same time, i prefer dish any day, better picture, clearer sound, their basic package is much better, dish offers outdoor life on the basic, direct does not 0 -
DishNetwork has Sirius music as part of the bigger programming packages..worth it IMHO 0 -
I have Dish Network BTW,......but short of small differences, as referenced by previous posters, I stand by my comment![;)][:D] 0 -
I've had Dish for about 8 years now, and except for the very early part of a severe thunderstorm, never have any problems. 0 -
I have Direct and I love it. Ether is better then cable any day.

Direct has NFL football and the NBA!!!!!!! 0 -
You can't beat the NFL sunday ticket offered by Direct T.V., if you don't care about that, then go ahead and switch. Just my opinion. 0 -
I've flipped from one to the other several times. Had dish for several
years, and it up and quit working. They wanted to charge me to come
out and fix it. Flipped to direct, then dish had a change of heart...
they kept calling me saying they;d fix it for free. Kept direct for
a few year, and dish came out with a better deal.
I've heard the companies are each owned by brothers, true or not I don't
know. But they seem to play competetive games that keeps us bouncing
back and forth.[;)]0 -
I've had Direct TV since before it was Primestar.
No complaints worth talking about.
I don't watch sports, though.

My dad had dish for 8 years.
All was well until a few months ago. He started having problems getting a signal.
The dish technician came out 2 weeks ago. He said he had to remove the dish from the 5 foot metal post in the yard, and put it up on the roof.
He did that, and the picture was still not good. He said my parents needed to cut down two oak trees, and he would come back and tune in the dish.
They cut down the trees, and then this technician wouldn't come back. He wouldn't return their calls, wouldn't answer the phone.
So two days ago my dad switched to directv. He is happy so far.
I have had directv for five years, I love it.0
