Question on mailing a BP Handgun.

Can a Ruger Old Army be sent by US Mail by a non-FFL?

I was wondering if anyone knew for sure. I will be trying to check on Monday.

Is it still considered a handgun even though it is not considered a "firearm" under federal law?

If you know the postal code section number that would apply, that would help.

  There are some states that regulate black powder firearms. This is from Cabelas website on black powder revolvers.
  
  ATTENTION: Residents of HI, IL, MA, MI, NJ, and NY please check your local laws for restrictions before ordering any black-powder firearm.
  
  Ths link from USPS lists rifles/antique guns so it looks like no problem, except for the screwy states.

  I know this isn't
  a handgun but last
  year I ordered an
  Omega muzzle loader
  from cabelas. Came home one
  day and it was lying
  on the porch floor.
  Kinda thought I would have
  at least had to sign for it

  No restriction by Federal law. As dcinffxva said, watch out for some states. New Jersey and Illinois for sure consider these the same as modern firearms.
