I told the car dealer he had nothing else on his lot that was suitable in exchange for the car he sold me with the rusted out front suspension. He then said they were under no obligation to do anything, but would pay to have the front end welded. The drivers side had already been welded at some point and he said his mechanic had told him it was rusted when he replaced the bushing on the front end before I bought it. He knew it was a rust bucket! He had been told.
I will offer to let him find a comparable car at auction to swap. If he doesn`t go for that,it`s time to contact the attorney general and the better buisness bureau.

I wouldn't hold out much hope. After all, they are car salesmen.

That is a great suggestion: Go for the full refund. Then, you will be rid of these bums, and you can go buy a car from the Autotrader.
The threat of going to the state Attorney General is a great idea. That usually scares the hell out of crooks.
If they give you a full refund, and you give the car back, they have lost nothing. If you push it, I bet you can accomplish this, especially if they are scared you will sic the AG on them.
I don't mean to say "I told you so," but I don't buy used cars from dealers for the exact reason that you are having this problem. Some used car dealers are professional crooks.
Dealing with a private person, hopefully you are not dealing with a crook. If he is a crook, then maybe he is just an amateur crook.
