I agree. I personally think we should be applauding China's militarization. We constantly complain about how everyone expects us to police thee world, yet get our panties in a bunch when someone steps up to the plate and says, "Hey, I'll look out for myself."
If we allied with China, there would be nobody on Earth that could take us on, much less out.0 -

As China's fate is linked so tightly to our own, I do not think it's "hijacking" the thread to say that war with China will only be accomplished if idiots have their way. I notice you did not admonish anyone else for their caustic comments regarding Clinton, so rather than take umbrage at someone slighting your sacred cow, I suggest you come to realize that whatever we do has a great deal of impact on China and vice versa.

I couldn't agree more... and all of you are invited to take the challenge.. go to practically any store nowadays, Walmart, K-mart, Dollar General, Harbor Freight, Lowes, and try finding something not made in China. Good luck, you'll need it.
I've begun checking the label on everything I buy, and sometimes it's so frustrating I just leave the store without getting what I originally went for. I suspect most people are clueless as to just how much of this crap comes from China.
Still, I have a house full of stuff made in China, because sometimes I really need the item and just don't have a choice because the only one available is from China.
There's a real problem here, folks.

Our Navy hardware is wearing out.
You'd be surprised how many ships have to return to port each time
a task force deploys. I've got a friend - his wife's my wife's best friend
locally - he is in the civilian 'fixiem on the spot electronics repair
business.
... we certainly don't have the ship-shape Navy that we used to have.

Looks to me like some one else in the global neighbourhood has some new toys! Guess they just want to show them off. Or maybe they did not want to show them off, and that's why the photographers got wacked.

+1 Considering that every one of our Ohio-Class missile boats undergoes major refits every 12 to 18 months, I'd say we're not anywhere near as good as we should be.
I think the Navy's high point was at the end of WWII when we had God-knows how many capital ships, support craft and submarines, and more on the drawing board.
Granted, the subs then were more like surface ships that could submerge, unlike today's subs that can stay underwater for as long as the food holds out.0 -
