TAURUS REVOLVERS,,GOOD OR NO??
What do you guys think of Taurus as a company? Good or bad??

I like the revolvers and have a 38 snub with concealed hammer.

I have a model 605 I use as my carry piece,I like mine so much I bought my son a model 94 .22 for a plinker.great revolvers 0 -
I have two a 22 mag 941 and a 44 special. They are nice but I don't think up to S&W quality by any means. But then they were a lot cheaper too.
I have had them for 15+ years and they work fine. I am sure the company has changed a lot in that time frame also.0 -
I think the quality has gotten better in recent years, and it wasn't bad in the first place. +1 for Taurus 0 -
I have a couple of them, they are good guns. I carry the 651 all the time as a CCW backup. It is the Titanium 357 5 shot,looks like the S&W Bodyguard. 0 -
I have a 605 38 357.I did change out the grips.Its a shooter and good for ccw. 0 -
I pack a Taurus .38 ultra lite quite often in the winter. Keep a stainless .38 Taurus in my truck at all times. 0 -

I have no experiance with their revolvers, but really like the Semi-auto's I've fired and had. I have and carry a PT111 which I really like.0 -

+1. I have a Tracker in .44 Mag with a 4" ported barrel that I take with me backpacking. The grip is not the best looking but it works and feels very comfortable when held.0 -
Good guns, great customer service, excellent warranty.
I have several of their revolvers; a 941 in 22WMRF (VERY accurate), a 608 (8-shot) in .357mag (excellent trigger out of the box), an ultralightweight in .17HMR (lightweight, hard-hitting, carry gun), and recently sold a short-barreled 7-shot in 38sp.0 -
Taurus is good stuff.
Their Gaucho revolvers are excellent.0 -
...I know either thru maketing, or upgrade in quality, or both, they have come a long way in the last few years, still not a Smith.
...I have one Tauraus .357 revolver, looks good, shoots good.
I have no idea about their semi's.
Their warranty will follow the gun, no matter who owns it...on newer guns...[;)]

My wife has a .38 five shot with concelled hammer as her carry gun. She loves it. Grips are too small for me but it's her gun so I can't complain. 0 -
OK Time to Taurus bash. Friend of mine bought arevolver,looked like a S&W 586 clone,him and I ended up at the range one day both to try new loads.Using 25 yd bullseye targets I took out the X ring with 10 shoots,somewhere while I was shooting he went and got a 12 guage shtgun and hit his target with buckshot,well that is what it looked like. We swapped loads, same thing from his Taurus,I still cleaned the X ring,thought it might be him,swapped guns he cleaned X ring with mine I sprayed the target. About 2 weeks later same guy bought another Taurus, looked like Ragingbull in 44 mag,heavy as hell,turns out it was 17 HMR.It was avery tight gun considering it was used.Once again that would not put 2 shots anywhere near each other. As far as the warrenty goes I have never had to find out if any of my guns has one or not, none have ever broken. Oh neither of these guns were old, all recent manufacture.Things I have heard of course doesn't count because it might not be true,but I saw the 2 guns in action and would not take a Taurus if given to me.There Soarass has been bashed. 0 -

I've popped rabbits at 45-50 yards with a .357 Tracker...Just about every one that I've shot has been a shooter.0 -

They're great if you like those silly built-in locking devices (similar to the J-lock that Remington has put on some of their long guns). I won't buy any gun that has an internal locking device and here's why. I had a Remington 597 once. It was a real tack-driver. I'd take it out with a buddy of mine and we would have tack-shooting contests. We'd stick a tack in a target and the first person to hit the tack won. The loser would buy lunch at the casino buffet.
One day I took the gun out of my truck, ENSURED that it was unlocked. I walked about 50 yards to where I shoot. I walked another 35 yards or so to set up my target. I got behind my rifle and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. I had to walk all the way back to my truck and get the key. Then I had to lock the gun and then unlock it before it would shoot again.
Sorry but there are too many built-in mechanical features designed to make the gun NOT shoot. The last thing I need is a built in trigger lock. Mechanical devices are prone to fail by nature. I don't trust a single one of the guns that have this as a feature. I will not buy a Taurus or S&W revolver unless it is used sans built-in trigger lock.0 -
I used to have the Model 85 and the only thing that I noticed was that it sometimes wouldn't strike the primer hard enough to cause it to go off. However, overall I really liked it, unfortunately the ex-wife got custody of it in the divorce.[:(!] 0 -

...unless they've changed the design recently, the revolvers have a very simple hammer lock...so simple that there is no way for it malfunction. I'm trying to think if that's been changed...0 -

The Taurus revolvers have a simple twist type lock in the hammer, don't see any way they can malfunction. Unlike the one in the S&W revolvers, it can and does malfunction. There are documented instances of it over at the smith-wesson forum. 0 -
They can and do malfunction. Somewhere around here I have a boot with two rattlesnake fangs in it to prove it. I have owned several Taurus guns and had problems with all but one of them. The 85 locked up after the first shot (broke a tab off the star wheel). Their quality may have come up in the last few years, I don't know because I will never own another Taurus revolver. S&W revolvers are so much better. As far as their warranty goes it's a good thing they have it because chances are your gonna need it. Darn them the new 1911 of theirs looks good though. 0 -
I have no qualms about their .22's but have had problems with older models in .357 mag. The cylinder rod was soft and kept bending after a few rounds. After it went back the second time for repair, I traded it for a S&W 66. No experience with later ones to report but they must be some what better or sales would be zero. 0
