When I first started rideing street bikes I lived in Seattle WA.

Up there you ride in the rain because you would never ride if you didn't![:D]

Actually as long as I had a full faced helmet it never bothered me.

But do it without a helmet or with an open faced helmet, Them there rain drops hurt like hell!

Watch out for those steel bridge expansion joint and manhole covers when wet.

Glad you didn't get caught out on the open road in the rain. It can be life changing event if its coming down hard enough.

My first HOG club ride we got caught up in the mountains in a hail storm and the temp dropped way down and it had me on the edge of the seat! I was glad the wife was not with me on that ride since the extra weight on the back throws off the handling and braking somewhat!

Glad you are getting a chance to ride and enjoy the bike.[8D]

How true, with just a little dew them things are like oiled snot, right along with cross-walk markings and any other marking applied to the surface of the roadway.

The thing that always messed with me is the parallel groves in the road.

Sometimes, when it first starts to rain, the water mixes with the oil on the road. It "can" be as slick as ice. Be careful.

Also your new tires need to be broke in. All new bikes and when you get a new set of street tires, they need to be rode enough to wear that outer rubber off before they really start to perform.
New tires are a little slicker in the rain.

Just wait till it snows. Car broke down and I had to drive 30 mile to work on my Yamaha 750. It was cold. I put on thermal underwear, jeans, and my hunting pants. Full face helment, three jackets. I looked like a fullback. Snow was about an inch on the road. Did I mention it was cold..It was an interesting ride both ways. I still froze going 40 mph.
