    I think that's it. I have a nickel Chiefs Special with a case number inscribed on it. At least SLED had enough sense that day to put it inside the yoke. Of course they also put it on the backstrap.

    Yep, my neighbor has his name and ssn engraved in all his guns. His guns, he can do what he wants.

    No question people can do as they please with their own property, but I do question the wisdom of decreasing the value of their stuff. [:D]

    My Grandfather inscribed his driver's license number on his guns. Back then guns were so inexpensive and plentiful (not to mention the lack of gun control laws) that they didn't think twice. Any way his guns are all family heirlooms now and are only that much more valuable to me and my brothers. The engravings are like a link to our Grandfather.

    When I was working for Reynolds Aluminum about 25 years ago, they decided to sell off all the guns they had used for security during WW2. Among them, were 4 Winchester model 64s in about 95% condition in 32 Winchester. All of them had the company name and inventory numbers engraved on them with an electic engraving tool. That really hurt what they were able to sell them for and what I really hated was them not allowing any employees to buy any of the guns. They also had 5 Reising machine guns that they gave to the local police dept since they had not registered them in 1968 and couldn't sell them.
