S&W 640 question
I asked this on Ask the Experts; but, as usual, haven't gotten an answer.
Been shopping for a S&W 640 (357mag) and I've noticed they changed to the new style key lock; however, I've read that the earlier 640, before the key lock, is a little more sought after. If this is true, what's the reason and what's a good price range for a 640 (without key lock) in excellent condition?

Some people won't buy the newer guns with the lock on them. Some for just the principle of having a gun lock on it, some don't trust them. So they try to find the pre-lock versions. Just personal preference. Around here a like new used 640 goes for 300-350.00. I just bought a 90% one for $250.00. Revolvers aren't real popular around here anymore, most of the younger shooters want compact semis for carry. 0 -

An alternative could be a Model 60 in a .357. 0
