Illinois Ban on 10 rounds and more
I was wondering guys if this bill passes is it going to ban the gun or just the magazine. For example are they going to ban ar-15's or just make it illegal to buy an ar-15 with a 10 round magazine. Should I start stocking up on magazines for guns that I would like to buy?

Just reread this bill. The way I read it, an individual with a FFL can legally own larger magazines.
(c) This Section does not apply to a person who possessed a device prohibited by subsection (b) before the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly. On or after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly, such person may transfer such device only to an heir, an individual residing in another state maintaining that device in another state, or a dealer licensed as a federal firearms dealer under Section 923 of the federal Gun Control Act of 1968.
A person licensed as a federal firearms dealer can still own a large magazine in Illinois, but the FFL is not intended for private use. Seems to be a constitutional gray area to me. The law abiding public cannot own it, but a federally license dealer can??????0 -

i like the suggestion of moving as if it where as easy as that, sell the house, quit your job, move the kids from their friends, I'm sure the rest of the family would totally understand this move so i can buy some hi-cap mags just in case

it may very well be in one of the many amendments added or removed in the past month, but when i first read it, you had 90 days from it becoming law to register the current hi-cap mags you own, it stated a limit of 5, but was real vague it did not specify 5 total or 5 per gun

do you have knowledge of this or is this an assumption?
read the part about hi-caps are allowed by olympic shooter, and hunters, since when did olympic shooters use hi-caps, and IL law only allows 3 rounds for hunting, total bs, all they are doing is making criminals out of law abiding citizens0 -

How the hell is anybody going to know who owned what before or after the ban!? If you're still allowed to own what you had before, then the ban is pointless. A feel good law that will never be enforced. 0 -
Yeah, I've wondered about that one also. Either the police interpret everything is preban or the interpret everything is postban and a person is presumed guilty. Sounds like some messy lawsuits.

Sounds to me like as a way to say... "If you're an FFL/Arms dealer and have these magasines in stock.. you're stuck with them and we won't prosecute. HA HA !"0 -

This legislation is a joke. They don't have ANYTHING better to do right now?

I have a couple of high cap magazines for an SKS. I looked at them and other than the manufacturers name, there are no other markings. So how, pray tell, would they be able to register them. Are they going to require that a serial number be etched on them?

Illinois does have too many laws and lawmakers that are all too eager to create more laws.
They wanted ot make a law requiring movie theaters to tell the true starting time of the feature presentation.
They wanted to make a law requiring high school year book publishers to take whatever picture a student wishes to submit.
It's OK for a Target Checkout person to refuse to sell the bacon because of her Islamic religious beliefs. It is illegal in Illinois for a pharmisist to refuse to sell RU486 because of religious beliefs. Go figure.0 -

Springfield Report for June 1
The House and Senate adjourned today without any action on antigun bills. SB1007 is now in the House and requires 71 votes to pass it. They could not pass it with 60 votes so now they need 11 more votes. They have their problems.
Rumors abound about the Governor calling a special session on weekends but I have heard nothing concrete. We will be meeting Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through June in extended session.0 -
