Duke Prosecutor Resigns...
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Duke lacrosse prosecutor Mike Nifong says he will resign as the Durham County district attorney, regardless of the outcome of his ethics trial.
Nifong says many of the allegations against him are justified, but he says he's not a liar. He apologized to the lacrosse players who were charged and later declared innocent, and he says he was trying to do the right thing in the case.
Nifong was in tears as he made the announcement from the witness stand at his ethics trial. He said, "My community has suffered enough."
The North Carolina State Bar has charged Nifong with violating rules governing professional conduct in his handling of the case.
Nifong says he accidentally withheld DNA evidence from defense attorneys representing the Duke lacrosse players accused of raping a stripper. Nifong says he thought he handed all the evidence over and didn't realize his mistake until months later. During his testimony Friday at his ethics trial, the prosecutor acknowledged he made improper statements in his effort to convict the athletes, who were eventually cleared.

I think he is waiving the "I'll resign" trying to encourage them into not taking his license. That way, he'll still have a career as a defense attorney.
I hope they don't fall for it.0 -
Resign...this guy should be disbared and then promptly fired...since having a law license is a requisite for being a DA.
He then should be sued for all the heartaches and headaches he caused these innocent students and their families.
Now Sharpton needs to man-up and apologize as well.0 -
