It is a keeper. This is my third 3"er Model 66. I took it out back just to run some .38's thru it. Needed two clicks to the right for me to keep all 6 in a peanut butter lid at 25yd. Factory magnaport sure tames the recoil.0 -

I helped a friend's wife sell the her husbands gun collection after he passed away. He owned one of these and I did not realize that it was a S&W performance Center revolver and sold it for $350.
What is it worth? His was in like new condition.0 -

What happened? Performance center guns come in marked boxes. They also have a Performance Center trade mark on the frame. The 170xxx guns indicates a gun designed and made from scratch whereas the 178xxx product code guns are existing products that have been improved or changed. This particular gun was a Lew Horton distributor sale. Product code 170224 per matching box with only 300 manufactured in 1993. You buyer must be elated with the purchase. All performance guns are presold to the distributors. MSR in 93 is not listed but your sale is not even close what the gun is worth.0 -
A diamond in the rough , paid little value much more than 350.00 0 -

There was no box with the gun. I did not have any experience with the S&W performance center guns at that point and will have to admit that I just made a real stupid move! My friends wife was so happy to be able to collect a large sum of cash from the sale of the total collection that she was not concerned with the loss. I did fess up and tell her later on.
I did not charge any fees for my efforts and I was able to get some good values for her with other guns we sold.
It is amazing how folks will walk in and make an offer for a collection with offers being in the 10-20 cents on the dollar. It does take a lot of time and effort to sell of a collection through friends, relatives, etc without using a gun show or auction site.
If I get to the point where I have major health issues I will try to sell off my collection myself through GB to get a fair price.0 -
