In the depths of a safe...

I decided to spend the afternoon emptying the big safe since on my last perusal of the edges I found a Luger and a Colt Commander 9mm that I never knew I owned. I found a 20 gauge Ranger with bird and slug barrels in mint condition that I didn't recall along with 3 older Ithaca shotguns, 20 gauge double, 12 gauge double and a 16 gauge old model pump, a Browning Belgium Lt 20 that looks new, a Remington 1100 Special 20 like new, a couple laminated Mosin 38's and 44's,a K98 Mauser and a really nice 1888 Trapdoor. Kind of like Christmas here today. Can't wait to see what is in the other ones. To be fair, this is a rather large safe and you can't see past the first few rows and it is like 16 rows across and 6 rows deep. So the last 32-48 long guns are pretty much out of view all the time unless you take out the 32-48 in front. To do that without banging them around takes a bit of time that I rarely have. I am much more interested in making deposits than taking inventory anyway.

    This post inspired me to look through my safe in the hopes of finding a Krieghoff or AYA SXS or even Browning Belgium Lt 20 that looks new, but all I found after an hour of looking was a barrel and magazine for a Pheonix Arms HP22 that I didn't know I had.[B)][B)][B)]

    Those were not freebies. Remington 12, ist gen Colt SAA and a Winnie 73 comes to three cups of coffee. And if the finish doesn't come off of the spoon when I stir it I shall feel like I was gyped.

    Having pics and serial numbers doesn't mean I have total recall of them all. Can you name the guns you own and the serial numbers without looking at them or the list? I can't.

    Oddly enough I don't know how many guns I have. I am like the Zulu cow herders who think it rude to count how many cows they have. It is enough that they will have more next spring than they have this spring. I would guess I have around 60-70 rifles,25-30 shotguns,a couple dozen carbines and maybe 50 pistols and revolvers. Sounds like a lot unless you know guys and gals who have five times that many.

    I don't know how many firearms I have either but a list of them is hidden. I haven't found any that I don't recall owning. I do know gun owners that make mine and yours collection together look like a ant on a eight lane freeway.
