Winch...

I may just invest in a winch. Got my pickup stuck in mud up to the doors today, had to have it towed out. [:(!] at least getting to that spot was fun

    Sometimes you can find them on wrecked trucks at junk yards..

    Hey, In the end if you go mudding alot, its worth it to have a truck so you can winch yourself out of holes.. Hook up to one of those HUGE trucks

    They are handy for other things too.... Like fishing For 50lb catfish int the Ohio River... FYI a whole chicken will get em every time.....

    Funny you say that, in my old jeep, I would use the winch to back my self down in the Yuba river on the sand bars so I could sit in the back and fish with out getting washed away![:D] It was only a foot or two of water in the spots, but it was cool sitting in the middle of the river.

    LOL ... be nice if the real world was like that.

    Sometimes places that you can drive in and out of just isn't as much fun.

    My first was a CJ2 283 with a PTO. Never ever got that stuck[:D]

    I had a Warn 9000 lb winch on my Toyota...I'm thinking about trying to find an 18,000 lb+ winch for my Dodge. I've been stuck so bad in the Toy that the 9000 lb winch wouldn't do anything. I really don't know if an 18,000 lb winch will be enough for the Cummins...

    It was a 1994 Extended Cab truck with a lift and 36" tires. You get locked up in some good old southern swamp mud and your engine won't even break the tires free from the suction of the mud...it was a strong winch though. I was trying to pull a guy out that has sunk his truck in a flooded creek one time and I chained the rear of my truck to a tree and put the winch on his truck and picked my truck up in the air...suspended between the front cable and the rear chain....ended up taking two tow trucks and my winch to get him out.

    I walked it, didn't sink at all.. it wasn't a bog or anything, but it was wet enough, once the truck got on it.. all it did was sink, right up to the doors. And it had a high clay content, so it was a similar consistency to drying cement.. still didn't get the pictures..

    We got stuck on four wheelers last weekend and like to not have been able to get them out with a truck. Its a wonder we didnt tear anything up.

    I had a warn gear drive 8000lb on this truck for yrs,double lined it would pull a house down [:D] but i sold it to a friend and moved up to this warn 12000lb, now i have restored it and mud days are over[V] i am going to swap this bumper and winch over on the burban and build a diff. one for the trk w/no winch

    I have an old Sidewinder winch on the old Chev. I never got it stuck, but used it a lot to get others out. I have yet to put one on the Silverado.

    I did however get my forklift stuck once or twice in the backyard. I had to tie the rear bumper of the old Chev. to a tree, use a snatch block and double the cable. Then hook to the top of the forklift mast (with it tilted all the way forward). Then with everything maxed out, tilt the mast back and move the forklift forward 2 feet. After a couple of those it came free.
