question about CDRs

I recently downloaded a bunch of music and burned to CD so I can listen in my car. I bought a 50-pack of CDRs from Office Depot, their own brand, because they were on sale. Even though I used the slowest recording speed (2x) on my burning program, I still hear faint static and background noise on my music.

Is this from the original downloads, or because I used "cheap" CDs? I didn't think there was a difference among the different brands. Is there a better quality CD out there that eliminates the noise? I don't mind paying extra for good CDs, I just thought there was no difference.

    I would suspect the downloaded music first. Try to download something totally different and see if that works.

    Well, I didn't d/l just one song, I did about 15 different albums. However, they were all from the same site.

    Try buying a music cd from the store of your choice. Then burn it to a CD. If that music is good the it is the source.

    I don't download music because of the limitations of what you can do with it. I prefer to buy the CD rip the music, and then burn a compilation of songs to a CD, and transfer the songs I like to my digital player.
