Update on bill collectors
Went to see them this morning bout' all the calls to my home for two years. Spoke to some manager in a private room. He said there was nothing they could do about the 'dialer' calling our phone number. Then I showed him the NOTICE. I ask him if he knew what it meant to be put on NOTICE. He didn't answer but went and got another guy. They both came in the room and tried to intimidate me. Said it took a lot of b***s to come in their place and tell them what they could do. I said oh well, call me again and see what happens. Paperwork from a Magistrate court will appear. The place did have a sign on the door.. NO handguns allowed. I left it in the truck and knew these repo, bill collecting people wouldn't be easy to deal with.

See my last post on this - you could have such fun. Also we used to tell our credit counseling clients to get a whistle and blow it in the phone when they called (among other things). 0 -
I showed them 2 years of phone bills registered in my name for this number. The one guy looked like a deer in the headlights. His IQ was not high. He was just big and dumb. Must have been the collector or repo man. Little guy did most of the talking. Little guy got bigger once his buddy was in there. 0 -
Takes a special kind to be a bill collector. Those types always amazed me. Good luck select-fire, I hope it all works out. 0 -
I feel better already. 0 -
Select, tell me about the NOTICE. I have been getting calls for 4 years, yes, 4 years!! I tell them and tell them that the Moody's do not live here, I have had this number for years but I still get calls. I don't usually mind too much unless I am asleep. Now that ticks me off. Tom 0 -

If they have contacted you by phone more than once every thirty days and can prove it. You can sue them for harassment.
I had a bunch that were attempting to collect from me on something that I had never bought nor had anything to do with. That is how I found out that the banks sale outstanding debts to collectors whom then try every tactic in the book to collect the debt. Then those collectors can and do sale the debt to other collectors after they get tired of trying to collect.
In West Virginia. A collecting agency must be licensed to do business in the state. If they are not you have them by the go nads right their. I made one phone call to my states Attorney Generals office after the second year of putting up with them and walked away with a good sized check from a collecting agency out of Iowa due to harassment and they were not licensed in the state. And believe me it was for way more than they were attempting to get from me.
Check your state laws. For I know of two here that has had huge debts canceled and their credit restored just due to the fact the collectors were not licensed to conduct business in the state.0 -

These morons aren't after me. I do not have bad credit. They are chasing someone that had our phone number over 2 years ago. The NOTICE is given to a party to make them aware legally that they are calling the wrong number. Continue to do it and it will cost them money. Small claims here is $7500 max. Judge will not tolerate harassment by a company. They are fully aware that they are doing it by the NOTICE0
