MINI 14 Accuracy!!!
Hello everybody. Im posting this for all you skeptics. I took my MINI 14 out today with my barrel De-resonator, and it's gas system shut off. I shot 1" groups at 100 yrds, this is a great inprovment from 6" at 100 yrds, I think. So all I wanted to say to all you skeptics is, IN YOUR FACE!!! [:D][:p][:p][:D][:p][:D]

Shutting the gas system off on the Yugo SKS is for useing the grenade launcher.
It doesn't have anything to do with accuracy.
How much did you have to move the De resonator around on your barrel to find the best accuracy?

I understand turning the gas system off on the sks is for the grenade, but my brother has gotten a much better grouping with it off.
I put the De-resonator in the same exact place as the front sight maybe 3/4"-1" in from the end of the muzzle.

I think the real question, is whats the point in buying a Mini-14 from Ruger with an MSRP in the 700's, when you can buya savage in the 400's thats more accurate with better ballistics?
Theres no reason you can't get accuracy and semi-automatic operation.
The fact you have to turn a Mini-14 into a single shot to get accuracy, shows how poor the mini-14 really is.
It is, however, still interesting that a mini's grouping goes from 6" to 1" just by shutting off the gas vent.0 -
I think the Marine was displaying some very intelligent thought in doing what he did to improve the accuracy of his weapon.
A feature becoming more and more lacking on GB.

Hey all, thanks for your comments. I was shooting with a couple of buddies of mine and their views are the same as mine, which is, accuracy is of more importance than looks. however the gun doesnt look that bad with it because theres a lot of black on it already, its got a black synthetic stock. belive it or not I actually got a real good deal on my MINI 14, I traded in my norinco SKS and my dear old dad payed for the rest as a gift.
Please dont get me wrong, I LOVE, and I'll repeat that, LOVE semi-automatic firearms, they are fantastic, when they give you the results your looking for. the results Im looking for just happens to be a nice little group.0 -
I am going to mount this on my AK47 and take it to the range to see if I can group a little tighter.

Accuracy is a good thing. So is a Remington 700 or perhaps a Savage bolt. 0 -

I've owned several mini 14s over the years and withiut going to premium hand loads was never able to shoot less than 3" groups at 100yds. That was why I went to my AR. Accuracy is now acceptable.[8D][8D] 0 -

Don't get me wrong, I think a single-shot Mini-14 is pure genius. Most people would just start with a single shot, but it takes some real doing to get a semi-auto to do what a single-shot can do. In fact, I'm so inspired that I'm going to start work on a semi-automatic Ruger #3 in the morning.
