Another Quattro Pro Question
I am using the Quattro Pro to keep my gunlogs. When I try to put the date of purchase and date of sale in the cells in mm/dd/yyyy format the program recognizes it as a math equation and will not let me list the date this way. I have to spell out the month, such as January 1st 2007 in order for the cell to accept the data. How do I change the cells to let me use mm/dd/yyyy format?
Thanks for the help!

There should be a menu option to format a cell or row/column of cells which would allow you to declare the cells as having a date format. However, I haven't used Quattro Pro for a really long time, so my memory might be a little foggy. 0 -
Highlight the appropriate cells (or entire column), then right click your mouse. Click on "selection properties", Click the "numeric format" tab and then choose "date". Choose the date format you want on the right. mm/dd/yyyy is not available, but dd/mm/yyyy is. If you type "05-jan" and hit enter it will show 05-Jan-2007. If you type "05-jan-06" and hit enter it will show 05-Jan-2006.
If you really want mm/dd/yyyy, then put either "^" before the date, and it will center what you want in the column. If you want the date justified to the left, put a "'" before the date, or put a """ if you want it justified to the right. So, if you type "^Jan-05-2006", you will get Jan-05-2006 in the center of the cell. If you type "^Jan/05/2006", you will get Jan/05/2006 in the center.0 -
