what didja shoot this weekend?

Got some range time (I've been more in the past 9 months that I have in the past 9 years!) again this weekend, took out the Rock Island 1911, my Savage 22 mag, and my Ruger Mk II. Had a blast. Friend took out his G1 style DCI reciever'd FAL, finally got it sighted in, we ended up putting about 200 rounds thru it (and letting some kids shoot it as well), 200 out of the 22 mag, 200 out of the 1911, and 500 out of the Mk II..... I gotta say that clay pigeons at 200 yards with the 22 mag is fun, as is the same with the iron sighted FAL... :)

    Ba Sardo,

    Were you using factory loads? I have shot a lot of 1911's and the only time I had any problems like you did was when I used cheap ammo, or sometimes my on reloads. Those 1911's should work if you grease them with supper glue![;)]

    Nope.

    Go to the link I gave you for the Colorado forum. There are some guys there that know about the places to shoot around the springs.

    They are having the "south" shoot this weekend. (the 14th) It's just an informal shoot, but it's somewhere right around the springs. There are directions on that forum.

    It would be a good place/time to get started, and meet like minded people. [;)]

    My brother and his family came over. We shot 22's and a Mosin-Nagant.

    Then we took them fishing in a friends pond. About 20 nice bass and some jumbo bluegills in about an hour. What a blast! Every kid got to reel in a couple nice bass. All went back in to catch another day.
