Is the dust cover properly seated in the semi circular groove at the front? Is it popping up from the front or sliding straight backwards? you have to tilt it up at the front when putting it back in then push down at the rear.

I have one in 7.62X39 and havent had this problem or any as far as that goes. I would want a Gun Smith to have a look and make sure everything internal is in the correct working order. Good Luck!

Do you have a recoil buffer in it?

If so, try taking it out and see if you still have the problem.

Thanks for the info. The dust cover is fully seated and locked in place. I do not know if it has a recoil buffer, what do they look like?

the recoild buffer on an ak is small little rectangular semi rubber piece with a arched hole in it. it keep the bolt from flying back and goin metal to metal.

    Yours may look simmilar

No, my Saiga does not have a buffer. I am going to take the rifle back where I bought it and have the gunsmith take a look at it. Maybe the dust cover is not relieved enough for the latch to fully hold it in place.
