Mi Gun Laws?

I was just wondering what the gun laws were in michigan for full auto's, the only thing i can find really is that i need a tax stamp for full autos and shorty shotguns, not much else, can someone inform a me a little on how i go about it?

    Don't take this for gospel because it is mostly hearsay.

    Back when the machine gun ban went into effect, Michigan was one of the states that only allowed law enforcement officers with a letter from their chief, to purchase the pre-ban guns.

    I think that decision was by an AG Opinion. (Attorney General).

    I later heard that someone filed a lawsuit claiming discrimination and then anyone could apply but had to have permission of their local law enforcement officer in the area where they reside.

    Again-I am not sure of any of this, I once considered buying one and was a LE officer at that time so I didn't worry much about qualifying as another guy in my department already had a couple of personally owned full-autos so I think my chief would have OK'd it.

    Probably your best bet is to contact the AG's office in Lansing. Be persistent if you really want to purchase one. Even most troopers are not really aware of the laws regarding full-autos, silencers and short barreled guns.

    I always wanted one but they are getting prohibitively expensive. If you want one, don't wait. They are only likely to get more expensive unless the machine gun ban is repealed and that is not too likely to happen.

    You must be near Trapper Gun.

    I grew up near Houston Whittier & Gratiot. Now live in the Thumb area (Tuscola County) but have family in Clinton Twp, Eastpointe, Warren & Sterling Hgts.

    I used to shoot at Peters and stopped in at Trapper's a couple months ago.

    I always go to Randazzo's Produce when I get down that way. Best Fruits and veggies at best prices I have ever seen. My dad used to be friends with one of their managers, but that was years ago and a different location.

    You are right in the middle of my old stomping grounds.
