Bet a jewelry store will engrave it for you. Or you can buy some nice hand punch/stamp (hammer type to mark before your finish work if your making knives). 0 -
I had a trophy store engrave the custom made combat knife SonDave bought for SonDougII to carry in Afghanistan.
It is best if you can have it done BEFORE it is tempered.

No doubt, best done before hardening, otherwise an engraver. Electro chemical etching is also an option on an already hardened blade. 0 -
buy yourself an electric engraver 0 -

They bust a few engraving bits on it?[:0][:D]
I inquired at a shop called Things Remembered at a local mall, they won't do firearms, but they sell (pocket) knives, so they might do one you bring in. They have a cnc engraver that is pretty fun to watch[:D]

I recently bought a k98 and I found a guy that does reproduction bayonets for them for about $40, which althougth there is no history behind it (having never been carried by a german soldier) is about $100 cheaper. I just want it for show and would like to see it date stamped to match the rifle (1940). Before any of your guys get upset I have no plans on trying to pass this off as a collectable, I just want a complete reproduction set for my rifle. I dont plan on selling it ever. 0 -
Depending on the composition of the blade you may be better off having it laser etched. 0 -
Most knife blades are too hard to stamp without damaging the stamp. Usually it's better to etch or engrave hard objects. If it's not too hard, most local machine shops have metal stamps. 0 -
These guys are right, don't stamp it after it's been heat treated!
We stamp all our knives before heat treat only, and it is all done with a Punch press!0
