anybody own a FN bolt gun..?
I have been eyeballin these rifles for a while now..anyone shoot or own one of them I would really like to purchase one w/a 24" bar. w/det/mag...308..I will be taking shots off a rest/and bi-pod at up to and including 500yds..what scope would anyone recommend..I am currently considering a 6-18x50mm Leupold..heavy duplex reticle..and warne rings..[?]..what would you do given this new rifle,scope and rings purchases..[for varmints and paper]..Loko

The rifle is a Pre-64 design Model 70 action with a hammer forged barrel screwed into a Hogue stock. The biggest problem with this rifle is the stock. For $800, I'd sure as heck like a better stock than that POS. I've shot these from brand new to slightly used and the accuracy remains the same until you change the stock. You can do better for less.

I've seen these for as low as $500 at some suppliers and you might see them cheaper on occasion. Change the stock for a good one and sell the Hogue.

Now, as to the scope, look for a better one and skip the heavy duplex reticle. Look at the Burris varmint scopes with a fine duplex or target reticle. Skip the Warne rings and get the Burris Signature rings
