.338 Lapua mag

does anyone own and shoot a rifle chamberd for this without a muzzle brake? If so how much should the rifle weigh to help compensate for the loss of the brake. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

    I have the HS Precision Heavy Tactical. It weighs 14.6 lbs with scope, no muzzle brake, but has nice recoil pad. I have to leave some of my ammunition at home because I invariably shoot every round every time I go to the range.
    I have shot up to 118 rounds in a single day. You have to use your "man hands" and get a good hold, but mine is a pleasure to shoot. A lot of the reason might be the design of HS Precision stock, so I can't say how other rifles might feel since I have only shot mine. Also, I hate hard kicking rifles so I am absolutely not a recoil junkie.

    There is no way to answer this since your perception of recoil is probably different from any of ours. Weight is not the only factor.

    Not all muzzle brakes work with the same efficiency.

    Not all rifles are fitted to the shooter to help offset the effects of recoil.

    Not all stocks are designed to properly defeat recoil.

    You haven't even specified a load which is a primary factor in determining the recoil energy. Heavier bullets and more powder increase the amount of recoil energy.

    Accuracy International weigh 15.1 lbs.

    Sako TRG-42 weighs 11.25 lbs.

    Rem. M24A3 weighs 11.8 lbs.

    Everyone and every rifle is different.
