KEEP IT OUT OF THE CASE. Rem-oil works very well.

Is the case trapping moisture (it is a soft case). I had it partially open in case I had to grab it quickly. Now I have it zipped up all of the way.

Store in a silicone impregnated Bore Sore, zippered cases will hold moisture.

Has anyone here ever used "PB Blast"? That stuff is fantastic!! I wouldn't recommend it during hunting season as it has an odor but anything I've ever cleaned up and used it on has remained rust free. It's available at most automotive parts houses.

"PB-BLASTER" is legendary in the marine mech. trade. I never thought to try it on any guns.
I have used it to desolve corrosion and rust on "salt" outboards for years. It can take a few days, and somtimes even the old "blue-flame-wrench" to get them loose, but without PB, it'd be imposable.

Doesn't anyone use RIG Universal anymore?

It is one of my all time favorite rust preventers.

After I showed my bosses how well it worked, they issued it to every person in the department along with a Rig-Rag to apply it. Up until then, every time we went to qualify, we had people pulling rusty magazines from their pouches. We carried Sig P229's.
