    according to history channel the "sniper" hollow point is designed primarily for increased accuracy rather than increased damage so it is kosher by the Geneva convention. The point IS much smaller than ones on hunting rounds, so there may be something to what they said...

    Like KSU said they are not hollow point bullet like normal pistol bullets. They hollow points on these rounds do not expand and should not be used for hunting. The hole has to do with accuracy and I was told the way they are made. I belive when this style came out there was some talk about if they were leagle for combat. I am sure these would work fine in an auto loader since he hole is about the size of a paperclip.

    First, it is the Hague Convention NOT the Geneva Convention:

    First Peace Conference at The Hague: Signed -- 29 July 1899;

    Second, there are two ways to make jacketed bullets:

    - The FMJ where the cup is formed from the tip down and leaves an opening at the bottom or base of the bullet.

    - The hollowpoint where the cup is formed from the bottom and leaves the opening at the tip.

    As the case was presented, the hollowpoint is the result of the manufacturing process (as noted above) and is not designed to nor does it result in a bullet that fragments. This is due to the thickness of the jacket. I have the report somewhere in a mass of notes. I'll have to dig it out.
