Federal weapons raid
COLLINSVILLE, Ala. - Federal agents and state investigators arrested five men during a series of raids in northeast Alabama early Thursday as part of an effort to bust an explosives sales ring being run by an as-yet-unidentified local militia group, FOX News has learned.
At least five bomb teams were on the scene in case explosives were found during the searches.
Eric Kehn, a spokesman with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive, said the action "involves weapons and things along those lines," but declined to elaborate.
The five were arrested on federal warrants and agents had four search warrants, Kehn said.
The sweep will likely involve two or three counties, but one site was near Collinsville High School in DeKalb County, he said. The school was closed.
Kehn declined to release the names of anyone who was arrested but said authorities could release more information later.
Sources told FOX News that the people arrested were involved in manufacturing of homemade hand grenades, which they then sold to undercover federal agents. The group has also allegedly been involved in the sales and/or distribution of other types of explosive devices and weapons, but the nature of these has not yet been revealed.
Federal agents are still searching the properties, and it is expected that those arrested Thursday morning will be brought to the closest federal courthouse later in the day.

The big CYA in operation again.Typical media BS. This is just a vague statement thrown out to make the reporter go away. If they were on the ball they'd be quoting from the search warrant and/or application affidavit they obtained from the issuing judge's office. It's public record.
An affidavit specifying what contraband items or evidence is being sought and the probable cause to believe these items will be found at the location must be submitted to a judge for review when applying for a search warrant. This paperwork must be maintained by his/her office. The search warrant itself, a copy of which must be made available to the property owner/agent when served, is also required to specify the items being sought.0 -
Umm uhh we found bomb making materials in abundance. "explosive" filler material, fusing and granade casings.
IOW there was a can of gas in the shed (next to the lawnmower), styrofoam (packing material from the new microwave), there was a pile of empty long neck bottles (in the recycle bin), and a box of tampons (that someones wife/girlfriend/sister had left in the bathroom cabinet).0
