HR 1022
Well I've talked to my wife about this bill. She has agreed to let me get several firearms ASAP. What I'm wondering is what steps does the bill have to go through if it's to become a law and where the bill is currently.
I just want to try and gauge where I don't stress my pocket book without reason.

I know there has been alot wrote in this, but enough can't be said about this. It cannot pass.
This is NOT the cosmetic bill from the Clinton era and does NOT include
a sunset expiration, this one DOES ban many more guns, not just
features, going so far as to ban WWII era rifles such as the M1 Garand
and semi-automatic shotguns. Do your homework, learn about the details and contact your representative, act locally, raise awareness.0 -

It's also worth noting that there are a couple of good bills that have been introduced also.
HR 1096 The Second Amendment Protection Act of 2007 introduced by Texas Representative Ron Paul.
Also HR 73 The Citizen's Right to Self-Protection (or something like that)0 -
...I wrote both my Senators about this pc of BS HR1022, Of course Senator Cornyn is the only one that will respond PERSONALLY, sometimes a staffer; but Ive recieved several personal responses from him.
I copy every em I send to my 2 Senators, then save it...and about 3-4 times a week...I resend them![:D]
Anti-gun laws, illegals, are the two topics/em's...that I flood them with the most, and other issues too!...[^]
I think Cornyn and his staffers recognize my name .[8D]

Ive tried to em reps in other states thru the NRA site that makes but always get a reply THEY dont take em's from other than their own state constituents.
...IF anyone knows that THEIR state reps accept em's from people that live other than in heir own state, let me know.
I call the White House every chance I get and let then know my opinion on the matter at hand...at the time...[;)]

Anybody got a copy of a well writen letter that they might send me? I want to write my Senator an E-mail. I'm not real good at writing stuff like that, so if anybody saved a copy, and wouldn't mind me changing a few things (i.e. name on it) I would appreciate it. 0 -
This needs to be stopped in committee!!!
I'm with JC on this one - if any of you word smiths have a well written letter, please pass it along. I tend to vapor lock on this subject and after reading the proposed bill, I don't know with which issue to start my letter.

I don't know about you guys, but I read HR 1022 and I get so pizzed off I start to shake. It's not even about the guns anymore with me it's about losing my freedoms. If I have anything to say about it no one is going to take my 2nd amendment rights away from me or anyone of else!! 0 -

That's the reaction normal people should have. Too bad others don't.
I can only write to Tancredo so many times. Honestly, it is like pi$$ing in the wind. Tancredo's not going to vote in favor of it.
Don't forget, not only does this have to make it through the House, it also has to make it through the Senate. I'm sure we can count on Chuckles the Clown Schumer to introduce this bill in the Senate (if he hasn't already).
It then has to be signed by POTUS.
Honestly, I don't think it'll make it to POTUS. If Bush vetoes it, there's not a chance in hell that the gun banners have enough support to override the veto.
So, if you see this bill make it to the Senate, it will be time to write both your Senators as well as GWB.0 -
