    London rhyming slang is literally just that,Plates of meat=feet.daisy roots=boots.I suppose=nose.ones and twos=shoes.I could go on for ever.Funny thing is there is rhyming slang for rhyming slang.If I said look at the arris on that chick it would mean look at the bottom on that lady.the word arris is short for arristotle rhyming slang for bottle,but only used in the desciption as said.Bottle and glass=arse only used in terms of a mans courage if he has got a lot of bottle means he has courage,no bottle and he wimped out.Leave you with one to work out for yourself,cattle truck.He is cattled.Work it out.

    did I read that rhyming slang was started by prisoners in London to communicat in a way the guards would not understand?

    Its a cockney thing.Anyone born within the sound of Bow Belles is a cockney.That would be the East End of London,altho thats a bit misleading,On a slow Sunday they reckon you could hear the Bells over most of London.It was bombed out during the war.As you said was developed so that the police or peelers or crushers were called in Victorian times,couldnt understand them.I can hold a converastion with another Londoner and you would undestand a word I said but it would be in English.My wife understands it now altho she was born in sanfrancisco.
