CFL bulb problems

WTH???
No one ever dropped and broke a glass/mercury thermometer, did they? I did, plenty. Even broke one on purpose to get the mercury out and play with it.
I don't use the fluorescent bulbs because I would have to buy a minimum of 45 of them to replace all my incandescents, just once.
The sky is falling, again, ad nauseum.0 -

If a thermometer is broken in a school now a days, the Haz mat team is called and it is treated as a Haz Mat spill and cleanup.0 -
the coal that would be necessary to generate more electricity for regular bulbs would probably throw more mercury, lead and other trace contaminants (including radiation!) into the athmosphere than the bulbs do IF they are broken (those CFLs are pretty tough, you have to try and break them) 0 -
Another cost with the CFL's is the $2-3 disposal fee, which we know all the "greenies" will be happy to pay (not) 0
