interesting to see that political correctness is not confined to the good but gentle USA...wouldn't want to cause any domestic trauma on the young-uns (bet kiddies could tell her a thing or two).....B.S.

OK, I agree that the lawsuit is totally frivolous, but I still have to ask what kind of idiot marketing executive allows merchandise from his firm to be described with the words "Ni---r Brown"?

Should you use that description? No. You shouldn't do that both because the description is patently offensive, and because the description is very likely to get you into trouble.

Should you sue when somebody uses that description? Maybe. If you feel strongly about the issue, then sue for the cost of your legal expenses plus a dollar to make your point. But if you're suing for big bucks, you're probably out of line.

If you're just dumb enough to use that description and you get sued, is it then a cluster-f*** of a situation? Yes.

And did you ask for that cluster-f*** to seek you out? Yes, even if you were too dumb to realize it at the time.

Seriously: how many times do you have to be dropped on your head before you fail to realize that "ni---r brown," when used to describe the color of a sofa, is going to get you into trouble?

This is about the dumbest thing I've read all week.

    just what I think.

Actually, the article states that the whole thing was a translation error, that wasn't caught.

quote:He explained that when the Chinese characters for "dark brown" are typed into an older version of its Chinese-English translation software, the offensive N-word description comes up.

"We got the definition from a Chinese-English dictionary. We've been using the dictionary for 10 years. Maybe the dictionary was updated, but we probably didn't follow suit," he said.

quote:Moore, 30, has three young children, and said the issue has taken a toll on her family.

"Something more has to be done. We don't just need a personal apology, but someone needs to own up to where these labels were made, and someone needs to apologize to all people of color," Moore said. "I had friends over from St. Lucia yesterday and they wouldn't sit on the couch."

    ROFLMAO

Chinese translation software comes in to the picture how? Is Canadian labor so expensive that furniture is imported from China?
