Touching story, ans befitting the season, as well.Although in the latitude wich i live and work, it is pretty tough to get into the "Holiday mood".
I hope ypu get to spend this Christmas with your family Mr Nunn...
If not, i'm sure you'll remember that moving story, and do your duty, with compassion,,, and a smile.[^]

Happy Holidays to you, and yours. From me, and mine...

That "Protect and Serve" covers a lot of ground, don't it?

I wonder sometimes about guys who go alone in a veteran's home, and how people always say it's too bad they didn't have family to be with. I think that being surrounded by fellow service members, the kind of people you've always known would cover your back without hesitation, no matter what your differences, wouldn't be a bad way to go.

Sorry. It's not even close. When you're old, family is everything. The hoo-rah stuff we counted on when we served was wonderful annd heart-felt, but that was then. Compared to family, it faded quickly.

    Clouder..

Brings back some memories Nunn..One example is..My first daughter was 8 months old the first time I got to see her. Her mom had her alone at the age of 17 while I spent a wonderful year on the Seward Peninsula, very close to the north pole...
